Biography

Zhou Guanyu made history for China by becoming the country's first-ever Grand Prix starter, debuting for Alfa Romeo (formerly Kick Sauber) in 2022. Inspired by attending the Shanghai Grand Prix at the age of five, Zhou set an ambitious goal to be China's first F1 racer. Moving to England at 12 with his family, he showcased his prowess with a second-place finish in the 2015 Italian F4 championship. Noted by Ferrari, Zhou joined Renault's academy in 2019, making his mark in Formula 2 with wins and pole positions. His impressive 2021 performance convinced Team Principal Fred Vasseur to field Zhou alongside Valtteri Bottas in 2022, realizing Zhou's dream of racing in F1 and competing against his childhood hero, Fernando Alonso.
